“Day by day”

Day by day

You reveal Your love to me

Cradled in Your arms

I am a precious lamb

A diamond in Your eyes

I have had this song on my mind on and off for the last month. Finally decided just to write about it since it was hanging around.  I like this song for a number of reasons…one being the thought that I am precious to God.  I need reminded of this fact…I don’t think I can hear it too often! Also this fits right into my theme song…Step by Step/Day by Day almost the same thing! But there are other reasons I like this song.

If you know even a little bit about me, you know that I like to look for God-things in my daily life.  Things that, if you look at it from the right perspective, you can see the hand of God at work.   This song goes right along with that thinking. Day by day, God is showing us what He wants us to learn. He works through people and circumstances to teach us about His will, to give us opportunities to see Him and to show Him to others.   He is faithfully and lovingly working in our lives. I think if we take the time, we will see it all around us.

He shows us His love in so many different ways.  I could start a list of how I think He shows His love….but I want to hear from you first, then I’ll put in my thoughts later.  How has God shown His love to you lately?  Give me specifics if you can.  And together we will praise Him for His wonderful deeds.

Proverbs 21:30

In reading through Proverbs this week, I saw this verse:

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.

Hmm.  No matter how wise someone thinks they are..no matter what they are planning, if it goes against God..IT WILL NOT SUCCEED!

If I am not submitting my will to the will of the Father, I will not succeed.  He is God. He is in control. He sees what I cannot.  So I need to be careful not to think that I have things figured out, or that I know what is best for me. When I get frustrated when things don’t progress the direction that I want them to progress, I need to submit my will to the Father’s.

YET on the other hand,  those who think they are getting away with something, those who are planning evil against one of God’s chosen better WATCH OUT! They will not succeed. God is in control.  He judges the hearts of man. He clearly sees the intentions of our hearts.  No plan, no matter how wise it seems to the planner, will succeed against God.

Wise words from God for my heart…

“Sherry will be teaching” Part 2

If you will remember, I wrote a couple of weeks ago about being the substitute teacher for a group of ladies on Saturday morning.  I was a nervous wreck about doing it.  But it was not as scary as I had imagined.  God has done an amazing thing by leaving us His Word.  The story of Jesus is beautiful and can cut people to the heart.  Just as it did at Pentecost when those hearing Peter said “What shall we do?” the story of Jesus moves people to ask that same question now.

I ended up teaching three weeks in a row. I had a very patient class. They read with me.  They talked and supported me.  They didn’t ask me too many hard questions. (Even though they may have had those questions they were merciful to me.)  We read from the gospel of Mark.  We talked about how Jesus can calm storms and calm fears, give hope to the desperate and miserable.  We talked about how Jesus understands when we feel alone, rejected, mocked or abused.  He has been through those things.  He understands.  We read how God wants us to listen to His son.

Then Rex was there to teach. Whew! Finally a real teacher for these patient ladies!

There are some amazing women in this class that meets on Saturday morning at our OPEN place.  Some of us have been walking with the Lord for awhile yet are still learning how to apply the word to our real, every-day life. Some have walked rough, thorn-filled paths that have left us bruised and broken so we search for strength and direction.  All of us try to be honest about our lives and open up our heart to the Lord.

Last Saturday, three of these ladies decided to listen to Jesus.  They heard Him say repent and be baptized to wash away sin, to become a child of God.  They asked “When can we do this?” And Rex baptized them as soon as their families were able to get there. What a blessing to witness the first moment of their new life!  What a joy to see them begin to walk with the Lord! I was smiling for days!

May God continue to bless us as we try to find His will for our lives.  May He bless these ladies…Teresa, Frances and Ruby… as they begin to walk with Him.
